Colour and natural variation
Black limestone is a fine-grained sedimentary stone. Fresh-cut it reads almost jet black; honed and brushed finishes show subtle blue-grey tones and the occasional fossil or calcite line. That variation is the point of natural stone — order from one batch to keep a large area consistent.
Where it works best
Contemporary courtyards, front entries, garden paths, stepping stones and borders against light walls or planting. For hot, open pool decks we usually suggest yellow limestone or a lighter stone, with black as a contrast band.
Bulk project pricing
Prices start from $45/m² incl. GST for 20 mm in standard sizes. Larger orders can price lower: ask for bulk rates at 50 m², contractor rates at 100 m² and project or full-container pricing at 200 m² and over. We never discount a size or thickness the factory has not confirmed.
Shipping and pre-order
We consolidate orders into planned shipments to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide, with Darwin and Cairns quoted per project. Your stone is produced and packed for you, shipped in ISPM-15 compliant crates, cleared and delivered to your postcode.
Maintenance and sealing
Seal with a breathable penetrating sealer after installation and once dry. Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner — acids and bleach etch limestone. Rinse off salt and pool water regularly, and reseal every 2–3 years.
Installation notes
20 mm pavers suit a mortar bed on a concrete slab. 30 mm can go on a compacted sand and road-base bed for foot traffic. For driveways, ask us — we will recommend thickness and laying method or a different stone.

Not every job needs a container. One pre-packed crate covers about 24 m² — a typical backyard patio, courtyard or garden path — with four sizes for a natural random-pattern look. It travels in a consolidated shipment, so you still get direct-import pricing on a small order.

Black Limestone questions

01 Does black limestone fade outdoors in Australia?
Unsealed black limestone gradually softens to a charcoal-grey in strong UV, especially on honed finishes. A brushed or sandblasted finish shows this less, and a colour-enhancing penetrating sealer keeps it darker. Ask to see a weathered sample next to a fresh one.
02 Does black limestone get hot in the sun?
Yes — any dark paving absorbs more heat. In full afternoon sun it can be uncomfortable barefoot. Many landscapers use black for shaded courtyards, borders and paths, and a lighter stone for open pool decks.
03 Are black limestone pavers suitable for pool areas?
Possibly, with the right finish. We will not claim a P-rating or pool suitability without a slip-resistance test report for the exact finish and batch. Ask for the report before ordering for a wet area.
04 How is a black limestone paver pack calculated?
Piece area = length × width ÷ 1,000,000. Pieces = your area plus cutting allowance, divided by piece area, rounded up. Example: 25 m² of 600 × 400 with 10% allowance = 115 pieces = 27.60 m², about $1,242 at $45/m².
05 Does black limestone need sealing?
We recommend it. A breathable penetrating sealer reduces staining from oils, leaves and pool chemicals and slows colour change. Reseal every 2–3 years depending on exposure.
06 Can landscapers get a trade price?
Yes. Trade and repeat buyers get pricing from 50 m², contractor rates from 100 m² and project or full-container pricing from 200 m². Send the job details on WhatsApp.

- Pavers are produced and shipped for your order. We do not hold Australian warehouse stock unless we say so in your quote.
- Lead time
- 8–12 weeks is a planning estimate. Your quote confirms the production slot and shipping schedule; we do not guarantee dates until the vessel is booked.
- Natural variation
- Colour, veining and thickness vary within accepted tolerances — that is natural stone. Ask for a physical sample before a bulk order.
- Delivery & access
- Delivery is quoted by postcode. Crane trucks, narrow access or upper-level drops are priced separately and agreed before you order.
- Damage or shortage
- Check pallets on delivery and report damage or shortages with photos within 48 hours. We replace or credit confirmed losses.
- Your rights
- Nothing here limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Delays, refunds and replacements are handled in line with your written quote and the ACL.
