Why Indian stone · I

The workhorse of American counters.

India is the United States' largest source of dimension granite. Tan Brown alone is one of the most-installed kitchen countertop stones in the country, alongside Black Galaxy, Steel Grey and Kashmir White. The combination of slab consistency, low porosity, predictable yield from gangsaw blocks, and competitive pricing makes Indian granite the foundation of American countertop fabricator inventory.

For the premium segment, Indian quartzite — Silver Shine particularly — has displaced some Brazilian and Italian competition on landed price. For the bathroom-distribution pipeline, pre-fabricated vanity tops in standard American sizes ship in fully-finished container quantities ready for distributor warehouses. For the monument trade, Indian black granites have served cemetery and memorial work for generations.

And our container scheduling is built around US fabricator timelines — weekly sailings from Krishnapatnam, Chennai and Mundra, full ASTM C615/C568 documentation per consignment, and the freight relationships to land into Houston, LA, NY, Savannah and Charleston on a reliable schedule.

Most imported · II

    Pricing

USD 6–22 / sq ft gangsaw FOB India

    Best for

Kitchen countertops · vanity tops · island wraps · bar tops · commercial counters · waterfall edges

The United States is the world's largest consumer of Indian granite. Tan Brown alone accounts for a remarkable share of American kitchen countertop installations — its consistent colour, low porosity, and predictable slab-yield make it the workhorse of US fabricator inventory. Black Galaxy follows close behind for dark-kitchen builds; Kashmir White for the warm-tone segment; Steel Grey for contemporary modern. Standard gangsaw 3050×1800×20mm and 3050×1800×30mm, edge-profiled per fabricator spec.

  2. 02

    Indian Quartzite

Silver Shine · Copper Quartzite · Indian Autumn · Lalitpur Yellow · Tandur Blue

    Pricing

USD 12–32 / sq ft FOB India

    Best for

Premium kitchen countertops · island feature pieces · floor and wall feature · hospitality surfaces

Quartzite has become the premium-segment kitchen-counter choice in the US over the last decade, displacing some granite at the high end. Indian quartzites — particularly Silver Shine and Copper — offer the durability story of quartzite at landed prices well under Brazilian and Italian alternatives. Hard-wearing, low-absorption, beautiful natural pattern.

  5. 05

    Indian Sandstone — Landscape

Modak · Mint · Rainbow · Raj Green · Kandla Grey · Mandana Red · Agra Red

    Pricing

USD 3–9 / sq ft CIF

Outdoor pavers · pool decks · garden walls · landscape rock · driveway pavers · patio

A growing US landscape segment — particularly across the southern states where outdoor entertaining is year-round. Calibrated 22mm and 30mm pavers, riven-face natural finish, in the colour palette that suits American garden styling. Indian sandstone landed in Houston or Savannah remains competitive against Pennsylvania bluestone and Tennessee fieldstone on volume jobs.

    Pricing

USD 9–60 / sq ft FOB India

Questions · VI

Frequently asked.

For US importers, fabricators, distributors, monument trade and architectural specifiers.

Trade enquiry →
01 Are you established for export to the United States? +
Yes. We ship Indian granite, quartzite, sandstone and marble to American importers, fabricators, distributors and the monument trade. The US is the world's largest consumer of Indian granite — our routing into Houston, LA/Long Beach, NY/Newark, Savannah and Charleston is well-established with weekly sailing options.
02 What is the typical price for Indian granite landed in the US? +
**Gangsaw slab FOB India:** Tan Brown USD 8–14/sq ft, Black Galaxy USD 12–22/sq ft, Steel Grey USD 6–10/sq ft, Kashmir White USD 7–12/sq ft. **Pre-fabricated vanity tops:** USD 25–75/sq ft depending on size, edge profile and finish. **Quartzite slab:** USD 12–32/sq ft. **Sandstone landscape pavers:** USD 3–9/sq ft CIF. Add USD 2–4/sq ft for ocean freight, customs and inland to your distribution warehouse.
03 What ASTM compliance documentation do you supply? +
For every consignment we can supply ASTM C615 (granite) or ASTM C568 (limestone) test data, including ASTM C170 compressive strength, ASTM C99 modulus of rupture, ASTM C880 flexural strength and ASTM C97 absorption. Test reports are issued by NABL-accredited laboratories in India and are standard for commercial US projects. Per-consignment material certificates are part of our documentation package.
04 Do you supply pre-fabricated vanity tops and countertop programs? +
Yes — pre-fabricated vanity-top programs are one of our standing export categories to the US market. Standard sizes (25"×22", 31"×22", 37"×22", 49"×22", 61"×22") with eased / bevel / bullnose edge profiles, polished and sealed, packed in protective crates ready for distributor warehouse pick-and-pack. Fabricators specifying custom kitchen countertops can place CAD-drawing orders for template-cut and edge-profiled pieces.
05 How long does ocean transit take from India to US ports? +
**US East Coast (NY, Savannah, Charleston) via Suez:** 32–42 days. **US Gulf (Houston, New Orleans, Tampa) via Suez/Panama:** 32–38 days. **US West Coast (LA, Long Beach, Oakland) via Pacific:** 28–34 days. Container loading at our facility: 1–2 weeks for in-stock inventory; 6–10 weeks for custom fabrication. Add 7–14 days for US customs clearance and inland freight depending on destination.
06 What documentation do I need to import Indian stone to the US? +
Standard US import documentation: Commercial Invoice · Packing List · Bill of Lading · Certificate of Origin (FORM-A under the US GSP program where eligible — though GSP renewal status varies; we issue the certificate regardless) · ISPM-15 fumigated wooden packing certificate · Marine insurance certificate for CIF orders · Material test certificates (ASTM) where the spec requires. HS Code 6802 (worked monumental or building stone) is the standard tariff classification for finished stone; HS 2516 for unworked / quarry block.
07 Can you ship FOB India, CIF US port, or door delivery? +
All three. FOB India is typical for established US importers with their own freight forwarders; CIF is common for new importers and project orders; door-delivered DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) is available through our US freight partners, often with last-mile to fabricator warehouse or distributor cross-dock. We quote all three for evaluation.
08 Can you fabricate kitchen countertops to specific drawings? +
Yes — CNC-cut and edge-profiled kitchen countertops to CAD shop drawings. Includes sink and cooktop cutouts, undermount fixings, faucet hole drilling, seam planning, edge profile (eased, bevel, bullnose, ogee, Dupont), polishing and sealing. Pieces are template-cut and packed in load sequence for direct-to-jobsite installation. Useful for production-builder kitchen programs.
09 What is the minimum order quantity for first-time US importers? +
A 20-foot container is the minimum for full-container-load economics — about 18–20 tonnes of slab (around 5,500–6,500 sq ft of typical 20mm slab area). For sample and stock-up orders, we can consolidate with other US-bound containers through our freight partners. First-container orders are typically 1×40-foot or 2×20-foot containers to give the fabricator a balanced starting inventory across colours and sizes.
10 Can you support architect-led commercial projects with custom fabrication? +
Yes. Significant portion of our US export work is project-driven — hotel lobbies, restaurant chains, healthcare facilities, government buildings, premium residential. We accept project specifications and CAD drawings, fabricate to spec, and supply project documentation (material test reports, batch traceability, installation guidelines) suitable for AHJ/permit compliance.
