Why Indian stone · I

Built for the Australian backyard.

Australia's outdoor-living tradition — alfresco entertaining, pool-and-patio, native garden landscape — is the natural home for Indian paving stone. The combination of calibrated tiles, anti-skid surface texture, low water absorption and competitive price per square metre makes Indian Kota stone and sandstone the volume choice for landscape suppliers and residential builders across NSW, VIC, QLD and WA.

For Australian kitchens, the appeal is the slab-yard economics: Indian granite gangsaw slabs land in Sydney and Melbourne for prices the Brazilian and African quarries cannot match, with the colour consistency and finish standards Australian fabricators expect.

And for the Australian memorial trade, Indian black granites — Black Galaxy especially — have been the workhorse of cemetery monument production for thirty years. We work with Australian monument masons on per-piece CNC-engraved and hand-carved orders.

Six stones for Australia.

Ordered by Australian-market volume. Each card lists the popular sub-varieties, the typical Australian application, and a CIF Australian-port price range.

  1. 01

    Kota Stone (Limestone)

Kota Blue · Kota Brown · Kota Honey · Kota Black · Kota Desert

    CIF Australia

    AUD 35–95 / sq m CIF

    Best for

Outdoor paving · pool surrounds · entertaining areas · driveways · garden paths · industrial floors

Australia's alfresco-and-pool tradition is exactly where Kota stone earns its reputation — calibrated 25–30mm tiles, anti-skid surface naturally suited to wet areas, low water absorption that handles Sydney humidity and Melbourne cool, and a colour palette that reads beautifully against Australian landscape planting. Calibrated to 600×400, 600×600, 600×900 — also available as random-coursed crazy paving for a more natural look.

  2. 02

    Indian Sandstone

Modak · Mint · Rainbow · Raj Green · Kandla Grey · Mandana · Agra Red · Jaisalmer Yellow

    CIF Australia

    AUD 30–75 / sq m CIF

    Best for

Garden paving · patios · driveways · pool decks · landscape walls · kerb and edging

India is the world's largest exporter of garden-paving sandstone, and Australia is one of its biggest customers — particularly Modak, Mint and Raj Green in 22mm calibrated tile for residential landscape and 30mm for commercial. Riven-face for a natural-stone look, calibrated edges for tight install, and the colour range that suits Australian native garden styling.

  3. 03

    Indian Granite (countertops & slab)

Black Galaxy · Absolute Black · Tan Brown · Steel Grey · Kashmir White · Coffee Brown · Cherry Red · Hassan Green

AUD 95–280 / sq m gangsaw FOB · countertop pricing on request

    Best for

Kitchen countertops · vanity tops · island wraps · bar tops · feature walls · commercial floors

Australian residential renovations favour Indian black granites (Black Galaxy especially) for kitchens — the consistent colour, low porosity and competitive pricing compared with Brazilian or African granites. Standard slab size 3050×1800×20mm and 3050×1800×30mm. Edge-profiled, polished or honed, ready-to-install for fabricator partners.

Questions · VI

Frequently asked.

For Australian importers, landscape suppliers, kitchen fabricators, monument masons and architects.

Trade enquiry →
01 Are you a registered Indian exporter — can you supply Australian trade buyers directly? +
Yes. We are an established Indian natural-stone exporter with our own quarry partnerships, factory and fabrication units, and have shipped to Australian trade buyers across NSW, VIC, QLD and WA for many years. We work with importers, landscape suppliers, monument masons, kitchen fabricators, architects and large-format residential builders. Local Australia contact: +61 419 395 267.
02 What is the typical price for Indian stone landed in Australia? +
CIF (Cost, Insurance, Freight) prices to Australian ports — order of magnitude only, varies with grade, finish, calibration and volume: **Kota stone** AUD 35–95/sq m. **Indian sandstone** AUD 30–75/sq m. **Indian granite gangsaw slab** AUD 95–280/sq m. **Granite countertop fabrication** is quoted per project. **Indian slate** AUD 45–130/sq m. **Makrana marble and quartzite** AUD 120–450/sq m. We quote firm prices against an enquiry with specifics; pricing assumes full-container loads.
03 How long does it take to ship a container to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Perth? +
Container loading and documentation at our facility: 1–2 weeks for in-stock material; 6–10 weeks for custom CNC or fabricated orders. **Ocean transit:** Krishnapatnam → Port Botany 22–28 days, Chennai → Port of Melbourne 24–30 days, Mumbai → Port of Brisbane 26–32 days, Mundra → Fremantle 18–22 days. Add 5–10 days for Australian customs clearance and inland freight to your warehouse.
04 What documentation do I need to import stone from India to Australia? +
Standard set: Commercial invoice · Packing list · Bill of Lading · Certificate of Origin · Phytosanitary certificate (Australia is strict on wooden packing — we use only ISPM-15 fumigated A-frame bundles) · Marine insurance certificate for CIF orders · Material test certificate where required by spec. Australia's biosecurity regulations are tight on wood and plant material; our packing is fully ISPM-15 compliant and we provide the documentation per consignment.
05 Can you provide AS/NZS 4456 slip-resistance test reports for Kota stone paving? +
Yes. We supply AS/NZS 4456 (Method 4.1 Wet Pendulum and Method 4.2 Dry Floor Friction) slip-resistance test reports for our paving products, including Kota stone, Indian sandstone and flamed granite. Reports are issued by NATA-accredited laboratories and supplied per consignment when required.
06 Do you ship full-container loads only, or can you consolidate small orders? +
We strongly prefer full-container loads for the freight economics — a 20-foot container holds 18–25 tonnes (about 500–750 sq m of typical paving), a 40-foot holds 22–28 tonnes (slabs limit by weight not volume). For smaller orders, we can consolidate with other Australian-bound containers through our freight partners; consolidation adds 2–4 weeks but makes sense for sample orders or fabricator stock-up shipments.
07 Can you fabricate to specific kitchen countertop drawings before shipping? +
Yes — we fabricate granite kitchen countertops to CAD shop drawings, complete with cutouts, edge profiles, undermount fixings and seam planning. Pieces are template-cut, polished, sealed and packed in load sequence so the install team receives them in the right order. Useful for medium-large builder programs across NSW and VIC.
08 Do you have an agent or representative in Australia? +
Yes — we have local trade representation in Australia. For an Australian-time-zone conversation, call our Australia contact directly: **+61 419 395 267**. Email and WhatsApp trade enquiries are also welcome via our India headquarters; we typically respond within a working day.
09 Do you handle samples for Australian trade buyers? +
Yes. 100×100 mm physical samples couriered to your Australia address — typically 4–7 days transit. For larger sample boards (300×300 mm tile or 600×600 mm calibrated paving), we ship via air-freight or consolidated ocean cargo. Sample costs are credited against the first container order.
10 Are you GST-registered in Australia, or do I clear customs? +
We are an Indian exporter — your Australian import entity (or your nominated customs broker) handles GST and customs clearance on arrival, against our shipping documents. For first-time importers we are happy to recommend customs brokers who specialise in Indian natural-stone imports; established Australian buyers usually have their own arrangements.
