What Tan Brown looks like
Tan Brown is a deep chocolate-brown granite scattered with black and reddish-copper feldspar crystals. It looks warm rather than dark, and it is one of the toughest and least porous granites India exports. It is a great fit for heavy-use kitchens, outdoor BBQ benches and commercial counters.
In Australia it pairs naturally with timber: Federation and country homes, Tuscan-style alfresco areas and anywhere grey stone would feel cold.

Where Tan Brown works best
Timber and country kitchens
Tan Brown picks up the warmth of oak, blackbutt and spotted gum cabinetry and hides crumbs and spills.
Outdoor kitchens and BBQs
Its hardness and low absorption make it one of the best stones for an alfresco bench that sees fat, sauces and weather.
Pubs, cafés and bars
Commercial bar tops take years of glasses, cutlery and cleaning chemicals; Tan Brown shrugs them off.
Tan Brown compared
- Tan Brown vs Steel Grey
Steel Grey is the cool-toned equivalent in price and toughness; choose by your cabinetry colour.
- Tan Brown vs Black Galaxy
Black Galaxy is darker and more formal; Tan Brown is warmer and less expensive.
Care and sealing
Polished Tan Brown needs little more than pH-neutral cleaning. Seal lapotra and flamed surfaces once a year, especially outdoors.
Pairs well with
Oak, blackbutt or jarrah cabinets, cream walls, copper or aged-brass tapware, terracotta floors.
